1.) Type of Upholstery: While most carpet is synthetic, upholstery is made from all different type of natural and non-natural fibers. Each of these requires different cleaning techniques and detergents. Some natural fibers, such as cotton, will turn brown when exposed to alkaline cleaning agents. It is critical to know what type of fabric is being cleaned before we start working.

2.) Contours: Carpet is generally all on one flat surface. Furniture comes in all shapes and sizes. Cleaning one couch, for instance can take much longer than another just because of the shape of the armrests, cushions and legs.

3.) Dry Time: Upholstery is generally stretched over padding and it is critical that it doesn’t soak into the padding which can cause mold or odors.

If you have a spill on your upholstery try to blot up as much as you can. If at all possible remove the cover from the foam. Foam is highly absorbent and will hold he liquid, making it impossible to remove the stain from the surface.
